Permits are limited compared with building a walk-in cooler. Temporary use on private property usually needs little or none; for permanent installations or public property, rules vary by city and county, so check with your local authority.

What's the minimum rental term?

Monthly rentals start at 30 days. Seasonal contracts (3–12 months) come with a discount.

How fast can you deliver?

In-stock models ship with a fast turnaround: units are delivered in under 60 days and installed in 2–5 days. We confirm availability and timing in your quote.

What maintenance does it need?

Preventive service every 500 hours or every 6 months. ZTrack alerts you automatically when it's due. Maintenance contracts are optional.

20 ft or 40 ft refrigerated container: which size do I need?

The 40 ft is our most popular size: twice the space of a 20 ft (20 pallets versus 9) for about the same energy consumption. Choose a 20 ft when space on site is tight, or a 10 ft for small volumes and backup.

Can a refrigerated container replace a walk-in cooler or freezer?

Yes. It holds -40°F to +104°F, so it works as a walk-in cooler or freezer, with a food-grade floor, LED lighting and Thermo King refrigeration. Unlike a built walk-in, it arrives ready to plug in and can move with your operation.

What is a refrigerated container?

A refrigerated container, known in the industry as a "reefer," is a portable unit with a built-in refrigeration system that holds a controlled temperature anywhere from -40°F to +104°F (-40°C to +40°C). It works as a standalone cold room: plug it into the grid and it's up and running fast, with no construction and only limited permitting. It replaces a walk-in cooler or freezer when an operation needs speed to start, mobility, or the ability to scale with demand.

Materials testing lab

Concrete samples need a stable curing chamber, and this one had to sit in a corner of a large concrete plant with no power at all. ZGROUP supplied a 40' reefer with its own humidifier, adapted from our ripening room technology, plus a genset. The lab now cures samples right where the work happens.
