What is a controlled atmosphere room?
Fresh produce keeps breathing after harvest: it consumes oxygen, releases CO₂ and heat, and keeps ripening. A controlled atmosphere (CA) container slows that process by replacing part of the oxygen with nitrogen and holding O₂ and CO₂ at the levels your product needs. ZGROUP builds it on Thermo King's TK Active Fresh: active pull-down with a nitrogen membrane reaches 5% O₂ in about 48 hours (versus days for passive systems), with O₂ adjustable from 3% to 21%, on reefers with the MP-5000 controller.
Delay ripening, aging and decay, reduce water loss and keep firmness: Thermo King cites about 6 weeks of quality for avocados held at 3% O₂.
Run phytosanitary cold treatment while the atmosphere protects quality, so fruit comes out of treatment fresher.
Holding harvest for later markets, buffer stock, trials and other uses where time is the enemy of quality.

Active controlled atmosphere: instead of waiting for the fruit's own respiration to build the atmosphere, nitrogen pulls oxygen down within hours, so quality is protected from the first day.
