How an Austin meal delivery site added a 160-pallet commercial cooler in its parking lot

A meal delivery company in Austin, TX had no room left inside its building. So it turned part of its parking lot into portable cold storage. A rented ZSTORE 8XL, set up as one open cooler, added 160 pallet positions steps away from the kitchen.

The challenge

Meal delivery depends on fresh ingredients and fast turnover. When the building is full, every extra pallet has to go somewhere, and the farther it is from the kitchen, the more time the team loses.

This site had no space left inside. Expanding the building was not a quick option. The team needed cold capacity close to production, available fast, without a long-term construction commitment.

Distance mattered as much as capacity. In general, offsite cold storage adds trucking, handling and time between the cooler and the kitchen, every single day. Keeping capacity on site avoids that.

The solution
